Media Launch - Stable at Riverway 2021
Stable on the Strand is North Queensland's Christmas Festival and is celebrating its 20th year and the BIG NEWS is we are moving to RIVERWAY for the 2021 event!
20 years ago, a young couple with their baby acted the parts of Mary, Joseph & baby Jesus. They will be joining with us for the media launch along with new parents and their baby who will be participating in Stable at Riverway in 2 weeks’ time.
Please join us for our Media Launch Monday and hear all about the new and exciting things that are happening this year at the ‘Stable at Riverway’ precinct.
Stable expects good crowds over the 5 nights of the event from, 18 –22 December 2021, 6 -9.30pm.
Guests will experience the sights, sounds and 'smells' of Bethlehem 2000 years ago as they:
Stand in awe viewing the Nativity Scene – Mary, Joseph & baby Jesus at The Stable.
Engage with The Christmas Story characters: shepherds and their sheep, wise men with their camels, the Innkeeper without any spare rooms, King Herod and his Roman soldiers
Experience the Bethlehem Puppet Theatre where children from 1 to 101 will be enthralled by Stable’s version of “The Bethlehemian Rhapsody”
Other 2021Highlights:
Raintree Grove – a real ‘feel good’ welcoming area where there will be lots of activities to connect with our guests: story telling; craft activities; treasure hunts, live musicand opportunities to share a message with those for whom Christmas is a lonely time.
Food Fair – quality food at reasonable prices including the much-loved Greek Honey Puffs
Youth Hub – features a Sports Arena, Lagoon Party and a Skate Park
The Annandale Christian College Main Stage will welcome a wide variety of local performers from different genres including Multicultural singers & dancers
Free Sausage Sizzle & Free Bus rides from Upper Ross to the event each night (this is Stable’s way of reaching out to a segment of our community which is currently doing it ‘tough’)
Commenting on the event, Mayor Jenny Hill said, “It wouldn’t be Christmas in Townsville and North Queensland without Stable on the Strand. The event has become a mainstay of our festive celebrations. Council is proud to support the event and we share organisers’ excitement about it being hosted at Riverway for the first time in 2021. Like The Strand, Riverway is a unique location in our city and I’m sure the community will love experiencing The Christmas Story in this beautiful setting.”
Event organiser, Anne Harley said, ”Stable has been an iconic event for Townsville for the past 19 years. We are looking forward to new opportunities that present themselves in our 20thyear as we move to Riverway. Townsville will be delighted with this ‘new look’ event! We are hoping for crowds of around the 35,000 markover the 5 nights”
